About Homer Optical Company

History
Homer Optical Company is a wholesale lab serving customers for more than 30 years (established 1973). Robert Dunn, founder, had a vision in 1973 when he bought Homer Optical, a small wholesaler servicing dispensers of Kay Jeweler stores and turned it into a full service optical laboratory. Over 30 years later, Bob Dunn and his daughter, Candi Levri, took the Homer Optical of eleven employees and made it today's Homer Optical of over 100 employees in three locations.

In July of 2006, Homer Optical Company was acquired by Essilor, and became a member of Essilor’s Partner Lab Group.

The Essilor Partner Lab Group is made up of other acquired laboratories across the country that continue to function as they did prior to the acquisition. We have the same management staff, same customer service and lab staff, same wide range of products and services, and same mission - to serve the independent eye care professional.

So why the acquisition? Primarily to ensure that we can continue to invest in state-of-the-art technology to ensure our customers have the newest and best to offer their patients. As a partner lab, we retain our current business model, and simultaneously benefit with the best developments Essilor has to offer, i.e., advanced laboratory technology, lens design, and product development.
